The story behind the Okwara Community Foundation
From the heart of Ideato South to the world
Okwara Community Foundation (OCF) was born from a simple but powerful belief: that no child should drop out of school because of poverty, and no family should suffer from lack of basic healthcare.
Founded by Dr. Ben Okwara, a physician based in the United States, and his brother Engr. Julius Okwara (Chief Agubata), a respected entrepreneur and community leader in Nigeria, OCF was established to give back to their home communities in Ideato South, Imo State.
What began as a scholarship initiative for students at local secondary schools has grown into a comprehensive foundation addressing education, healthcare, community infrastructure, and youth empowerment — touching hundreds of lives across two communities.
To advance education, healthcare, and sustainable community development across Ideato South, Imo State, Nigeria — ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, every family has access to health, and every community has the infrastructure to thrive.

A physician dedicated to serving his home community from abroad, Dr. Ben Okwara founded OCF to ensure that children in Ideato South never have to choose between education and survival.
